Agricultural scientists expressed concern over the problems related to falling ground water level, climate change and environment
Kurukshetra. The 31st Scientific Advisory Committee meeting was organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana University on Thursday in the campus of the center. The meeting was chaired by the Director of Extension Education and Registrar of the University, Dr. Balwan Singh Mandal. Dr. Rajbir Garg, Regional Director of the Regional Research Institute, Karnal, of the University welcomed the chief guest.
The main objective of the meeting was to give details of the activities and activities done by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra last year and to give information about the work to be done in the coming year. Officials of various departments of the district, Agriculture and Welfare Department, Horticulture Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Fisheries Department and Punjab National Bank participated in the meeting. Four progressive farmers of the district also participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, the coordinator of the center, Dr. Manoj Kumar presented the progress report of the year 2023-24 and the annual work plan for 2024-25. Scientists of the centre, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Fateh Singh, Dr. Lalita, Dr. Sarita Rani and Dr. Kavita presented their progress reports and future work plan. The officers shared their views and suggestions on these presentations. The chief guest of the meeting, Dr. Balwan Singh Mandal, encouraged all the officers to work together in the interest of the farmers.
Expressing concern about the declining ground water level, climate change and problems related to the environment, he said that KVK and all other departments have to unite and find solutions to all these problems so that we can preserve the heritage of our natural resources for the future. He also stressed on running the soil testing laboratory of KVK soon and increasing the income of farmers by turning small agricultural works into big businesses.
