Hooligans after Dalit woman bouncer from Punjab, molested her thrice in a week

Dalit woman bouncer from Ludhiana, Punjab was molested by drunk hooligans at an exhibition. The bouncer is on ticket checking duty at the exhibition. It is alleged that on protest, she was manhandled and harassed. Along with giving a written complaint at the police station, a complaint has also been made to the women helpline.

The exhibition is being conducted on the city’s bypass. Two women bouncers from Ludhiana, Punjab are posted as ticket checkers at the swings here. It is being told that on the night of May 31, two youths reached the swing in an inebriated state along with several companions. Both of them forcibly started to climb the swing without a ticket. When the bouncer objected, they misbehaved with him. The accused were manhandled and harassed.

On receiving the complaint, the police also reached the spot. The crowd present at the exhibition surrounded both the accused. When the police tried to reason with the accused, they got into a scuffle with them too. A police report was called from the police station. It is alleged that instead of getting the accused medically examined, the police let them go without taking any action. Even before this, one day the accused had forcibly tried to get the phone number of the female bouncer.

Later, the accused reached the room of the bouncer and his female companion situated in front of the exhibition ground and threatened them of dire consequences. The scared bouncer and his companion changed their room under compulsion. On Sunday night, the accused again reached the exhibition and created a ruckus. There was a tussle with the bouncer again. The victim says that the accused are employees at a nearby petrol pump. Even after a long time of filing a complaint on dial 112 and women helpline, the police did not reach the spot, taking advantage of which the accused fled.

A complaint was also lodged in the police station, but the case was not registered. On the other hand, it is being told that some time back, one of the accused had also molested the girl students in the school bus. The matter had also reached the police station. However, later the matter was hushed up when the accused apologized. Inspector in charge Sanoj Pratap Singh said that action will be taken after investigation in the matter.
