Dalit youth assaulted in police station, constable handed over urine when he asked for water, 2 constables suspended

Two constables of Behrod police have been accused of assaulting a Dalit youth. After taking him to the police station, both the constables beat the young man badly. Taking cognizance of the incident, the SP has suspended both the constables.

Behrod. A case has come to light in the town where the police forcibly picked up a Dalit youth, took him to the police station and beat him up. Not only this, the youth alleges that when he asked for water, the police handed him urine. The victim youth complained to the SP, on which the SP took cognizance and suspended both the concerned employees.

The victim youth Ankit Mawar told in his complaint to the SP that he was going to the power house on April 4. DST (District Special Team) members Sanjay Dhankar and Kapil Sharma were standing on the way. He called him near him and asked him to sit in the car. When asked the reason, he said to tell the reason in the police station itself. At the police station they made me remove my clothes and after that I was beaten. The victim told that his health had deteriorated due to the beating, when he asked for water, Kapil handed him the urine kept nearby and told him to drink it instead of water. Although he did not drink urine even after threats, they locked him in the police station under Section 151 and left him. After coming home, he narrated the incident to his family members.

On Saturday, the victim youth appeared before the Kotputli Superintendent of Police and narrated his entire ordeal. Taking cognizance of the matter, Kotputli SP Vandita Rana suspended Sanjay Dhankar and Kapil Sharma. Also, its investigation has been handed over to Neemrana ASP Shalini Raj. A complaint has also been lodged against the accused in the SC Commission on behalf of Dalit youth Ankit.

DST team had been in controversies earlier also: Suspended constables Sanjay and Kapil were posted in Behrod (Neemrana) police station for the last several years, who were also members of the special team. Meanwhile, he has been in controversies every day. Be it their share in property or collusion with miscreants, no strict action had been seen against them due to their coordination with the authorities.
