This move of Jayant increased SP’s tension, played Dalit card to corner Chandrashekhar; Target on 14 seats of Western UP
Lok Sabha Election 2024. Anil Kumar of the Jatav community, who was borrowed from the Samajwadi Party in the assembly elections, showed his loyalty by supporting Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary in the Rajya Sabha elections and the party hit many birds with one stone by giving the return gift of a cabinet minister. Like Chandrashekhar, Anil Kumar is also originally from Saharanpur.
Anand Prakash, Muzaffarnagar.
Jayant has placed a bet on three-time MLA Anil Kumar to corner Dalit face Chandrashekhar who is preparing for the Lok Sabha elections from Nagina seat and to bring together Dalit votes to make Chandan Chauhan win in Bijnor.
Like Chandrashekhar, Anil Kumar is also originally from Saharanpur. Jayant and Chandrashekhar, who were good friends earlier, are now face to face in the election season. Even in the Khatauli Assembly by-election, Chandrashekhar had campaigned extensively in favor of the RLD candidate.
Someone else’s discussion, Anil’s luck opened up
The names of MLAs Rajpal Balyan and Ashraf Ali were in discussion to become ministers in the Yogi government from RLD quota, but Chhote Choudhary played the Dalit card due to caste equation. Through this decision, RLD also gave the message of taking everyone along.
Second Jatav minister in Yogi government
Gulabo Devi, who was made minister from Sambhal in CM Yogi’s team, belongs to the Dhobi community. Of the 14 seats in the western region, no Jatav is in the cabinet, whereas from the administrative point of view, if we talk about the 27 parliamentary seats of western Uttar Pradesh, Babyrani Maurya of the Jatav community from Agra is the cabinet minister.
Anup Valmiki from Aligarh, while Dinesh Khatik from Hastinapur, Meerut are also ministers from Dalit quota, but the Jatav community was not represented in the western region. Jayant made Jatav face Anil a cabinet minister to increase the ground hold of RLD and to give strength to NDA. On this pretext, while RLD will sharpen the strategy of Chandan Chauhan in Bijnor, it will also strengthen the bundle of Dalit votes for BJP candidate Om Kumar in Nagina.
Political journey
Anil Kumar reached the House in 2007 by contesting the first election on BSP ticket from Charthawal (reserved) seat. In the year 2012, he again became MLA from Purkaji on BSP ticket. Lost to BJP candidate in 2017. After this Anil joined SP. But in the year 2022, while being SP, he became MLA for the third time by contesting elections from Purkaji seat on RLD symbol.
