‘Will not get down unless rapist is arrested’; Dalit woman climbs on top of water tank in protest
JAIPUR: A Dalit woman climbed on top of the water tank near the district collector’s office to protest against the nonarrest of her rapist. The incident took place in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Police officers reached the spot and tried to persuade the woman to get down but failed. With this, the police ensured safety by tying nets below.
Police officers who climbed on top of the water reservoir brought the woman down after talking and persuading her.
Police informed that the woman was later taken into custody later. On January 16, the woman had filed a complaint against Pappu Gujjar and the police had registered a case against him. The woman climbed on top of the water tank in protest against the lack of action against the accused. There was strong protest among the Dalit communities in the area against police not acting on the case.
