Rahul Gandhi Denied Entry At Batadrava Satra Temple In Assam; Sings ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ In Protest
Rahul Gandhi questioned, ‘We want to visit the temple. What crime have I committed that I cannot visit the temple?’
In Assam, as part of his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ Rahul Gandhi alleged on Monday that authorities in Assam did not allow him to visit Batadrava Satra Temple in Nagaon, the birthplace of Srimanta Sankardeva, a 15th-century Assamese saint and scholar.
Questioning the imposed restrictions, Gandhi stated, “We want to visit the temple. What crime have I committed that I cannot visit the temple?”
“We don’t want to create any problems, we simply want to pray at the temple,” he added.
Subsequently, Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by Congress party workers, staged a sit-in protest in Nagaon.
A video captured Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh, singing ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ during the sit-in protest against the denied visit to Batadrava before 3 PM on the same day.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had previously urged Gandhi to reconsider the route for his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ citing concerns about potential clashes with the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
