Congress calls MP Pratap Simha as “anti-dalit” for his opposition to ‘Mahisha Dasara’
Mysuru: Terming Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha as “anti-dalit and anti-OBC”, Congress spokesperson M Lakshmana slammed the BJP leader for his strong opposition to “Mahisha Dasara” with his call for ‘Chalo Chamundi Betta’ on October 13 to coincide with ‘Mahsiha Dasara’. Mahisha Dasara is being organized by dalit leaders in Mysuru and it has been facing strong opposition from BJP leaders.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, the Congress leader went on to say that the ‘Mahisha Dasara’ is a ritual by dalits and other backward classes. But MP Simha is misleading the people as Lok Sabha elections are nearing, he said and alleged that the BJP could be conspiring to “attack” as 5,000 people are expected to take part in the event atop the Chamundi Hills. Lakshmana said “If the BJP leaders thought that Mahishasura was a disrespect to the devotees, why did their government not remove it.” He also sought to know why the police have not taken the MP – who issues threats – into custody.
