Rajasthan shamed: Dalit girl gang-raped, killed; acid-burnt body found in well in Karauli

Karauli: A heart-wrenching incident of gang-rape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit girl in Rajasthan’s Karauli district has sent a shock wave across the region, with people demanding stringent punishment for the culprits.
Acid thrown on the victim’s face
After raping and killing the girl, the culprits threw acid on her face in order to hide her identity. The victim’s body was found in a well near Bhilapada Road in Karauli by the locals on Thursday.
Probe underway
After receiving the information, the police officials rushed to the spot and took the body under their possession. The body was immediately sent for the post-mortem.
According to the police, the victim has been identified and she is a resident of Mohanpura village. A case under several Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered and the probe is currently underway.
Family found about deceased girl through social media
According to the victim’s mother, she could not find the girl when she got up at midnight to go to the washroom.
“My daughter was taken away forcefully by 3-4 men in a car. I received my daughter’s death through social media,” victim’s mother said, adding that she was the eldest of four sons and daughters.
Rajya Sabha MP slams Gehlot government
Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena reached the spot and began protesting against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government over the lawlessness in the state.
Demanding the capital punishment for the culprits, Meena said the state government should give an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh to family of the victim.
The Rajya Sabha MP also demanded jobs on contract basis for the family members of the victim.
