370 Dalit sanyasis to be appointed office bearers of Juna Akhara, Junagarh
Prayagraj: In a significant development, 370 Dalit sanyasis of Juna Akhara, Junagarh, will be given administrative roles in the akhara during the Maha Kumbh 2025.
“All of them have been given complete information about Sanatan Dharma, its rituals and other karma kand,” said Jagadguru Shankaracharya Gujarat Peethadheeshwar Mahendranand Giri Maharaj of Junagadh, Shri Panch Dashnam Juna Akhara.
He added that “With the changing society and time, saints and seers are connecting people from all sections of society with Sanatan Dharma in order to preserve and propagate it. It is important to make all the people of Sanatan Dharma aware and to teach our generations about the antiquity and importance of Sanatan Dharma.”
Mahendranand Giri said he had been inclined towards Sanatan Dharma since childhood.
“After coming in contact with Swami Hari Giri Ji Maharaj, the patron of Shri Panch Dashnam Juna Akhara and national general secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, and with his inspiration, I began working for Sanatan Dharma.”
He added that their initiative has successfully brought 907 individuals into Sanatan Dharma as sanyasis, including 370 from the Dalit community. These individuals will attend the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj with specific duties assigned to each.
He noted that Dalit Kailashanand was appointed as Mahamandaleshwar at Prayagraj’s Maujgiri Ashram about four months ago.
