10 years imprisonment to the person guilty of raping a Dalit girl, five years imprisonment to the person who molested a girl student
Three important decisions came out from various courts in the district on Wednesday. The court of Additional Sessions Judge/Special Judge POCSO Act Amit Veer Singh sentenced Amit Yadav, who was found guilty in the rape case of a minor Dalit girl seven and a half years ago, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand. At the same time, Atul Singh, who molested a student seven and a half years ago, was sentenced to 3 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 40 thousand. Similarly, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge/FTC/CAW Sonbhadra Paritosh Shrestha also sentenced the gang leader to two years’ imprisonment after finding him guilty in a gangster case.
A case of rape of a minor came to light in April 2016.
According to the prosecution story, the victim’s mother, resident of a village in Pannuganj police station area, reached Pannuganj police station and lodged a complaint. Told that she had gone to her village on 5 April 2016. Meanwhile, at 6 pm, a youth resident of Block Road Ramgarh lured her minor daughter and took her away. During investigation, the name of Amit Yadav, son of Sumer Yadav, resident of Pakarhat, police station Pannuganj, came to light.
After getting sufficient evidence, the investigator filed a charge sheet in the court under kidnapping, rape and POCSO Act. After being found guilty during the hearing, the accused Amit Yadav was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional rigorous imprisonment of six months. The period spent in jail will be included in the sentence. Out of the fine amount, Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand will be given to the victim. The prosecution was represented by government advocates Dinesh Kumar Agrahari, Satya Prakash Tripathi and Neeraj Kumar Singh.
One person sentenced for molesting a student, one acquitted
According to the prosecution police station, the victim’s father, resident of a village in Chopan police station area, had reached Chopan police station and given a complaint on April 4, 2016. It was informed that on April 3, 2016, at 7.30 pm, his 15 year old daughter was walking. Atul Singh, son of Akhilesh Singh, resident of Preet Nagar police station Chopan, lured him and kidnapped him. After a lot of searching, she was found late at night near Kendriya Vidyalaya Chopan. He told that Atul Singh had lured him away. His two friends were also with him. Police filed a charge sheet against the three under kidnapping and POCSO Act.
During the hearing of the case, the court found Atul Singh guilty and sentenced him to 3 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 40 thousand. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of 3 months. The period spent in jail will be included in the sentence. Out of the fine amount, Rs 32 thousand will be given to the victim. It was reported that one accused died during the trial, while another accused was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Gangster Act convict given two years imprisonment
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge/FTC/CAW Sonbhadra Paritosh Shrestha on Wednesday found gang leader Ramchandra alias Lallu guilty in the Gangster Act case. For this he was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of 7 days. The period spent in jail will be included in the sentence. Special Public Prosecutor Gangster Court Dhananjay Shukla Advocate argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.
