Priyanka Chopra has been featured as the cover girl on the latest issue of Variety. Chopra has joined the likes of Octavia Spencer, Patty Jenkins, Kelly Clarkson and Michelle Prieffer as the actor was added to Variety‘s Power of Women honorees’ list.
The actor had an extensive interview with the magazine, and went on to admit that it was nearly impossible for her to balance all the aspects and demands of her work and life; however the one thing she has always found the time for is charity work. Chopra has been working with UNICEF since 2003 and is currently a Goodwill Ambassador for the same. She has also spoken at the United Nations General Assembly, and has met with several heads of state in the pursuit of her responsibilities.
Chopra’s parents, both physicians in the army, had brought her and her brother up in a way that taught them the importance of giving back. “Philanthropy has been something that is inherently a part of my life from when I was growing up,” said Chopra, according to Variety.
Chopra is also proud to call herself a feminist and feels that the premise of the concept does not lie in hating or berating men or trying to show the female race to be superior to men, but rather, being given the same freedom that their male counterparts have enjoyed for centuries.
Chopra is currently busy shooting for season three of Quantico, a show which made her a household name in the West. She also has a production house with her mother Madhu Chopra called Purple Pebble Pictures set up in India. Purple Pebble Pictures has churned out a number of regional projects since its inception.
